Earlier this month, we saw some leaked Official ROMs for Samsung Galaxy SII and Galaxy Note based on Android 4.1.2 Jellybean. Originally, Samsung Galaxy SII and Note were supposed to get the Jellybean update in November, but as usual Samsung was not able to deliver on time. The dates were pushed to December and we had various official ROM leaks hinting a possible December release.

But the Samsung Exynos exploit, that was discovered recently, could hold back the update. Instead of patching the vulnerability separately, Samsung has decided to patch the exploit in the Android 4.1.2 Jellybean update for the Galaxy SII and the Galaxy Note. Another reason for the delay may be that Samsung wants to release the update for everyone at the same time. Usually the people in Germany and Poland are the first to receive the update. But Samsung is planning for a one time release of the update. The ICS update for Galaxy S2 reached India nearly three months later than the original date it was available.

The Samsung Galaxy SII and Galaxy Note are likely to get the Android 4.1.2 Jellybean update in Jan 2013.
