Samsung Galaxy Grand
Earlier in the month, we heard rumors that Samsung was planning an affordable phablet. The Samsung Galaxy Grand is that phablet in the affordable range. As per the rumors, the Galaxy Grand did not have a stylus and as it turns out, it does not have one. The Galaxy Grand is a 5inch device. 5inch phones are becoming quite popular in a short time thanks to the 1080p displays. But the Samsung Galaxy Grand does not sport a Full HD display. In fact, it comes with a mediocre WVGA resolution(800x480pixels) on a 5inch screen leading to a woeful pixel density of 186ppi.
Samsung Galaxy Grand – Features and Specification
Other the big display, the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Grand match that of the Galaxy S2. There is a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage. There is a microSD card to expand the storage. In terms of connectivity, there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, microUSB and GPS with A-GPS. The Galaxy Grand is available in two variants – Single SIM and Dual SIM. The dual SIM version is called as the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos. Just like the Galaxy S2, the Galaxy Grand has a 8MP camera at the back and a 2MP camera at the front. The 8MP camera will have zero-shutter lag like the Galaxy Nexus. It will record videos in FullHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Grand is very close to the Galaxy S2. But in terms of design and build quality, the Galaxy Grand resembles the Galaxy S3. In terms of display size, it i close to the Galaxy Note. So Samsung have taken the best from each of their flagship models and come up with the Galaxy Grand.
The hardware may not compete with the Samsung’s flagship models, but in terms of Software, Samsung Galaxy Grand almost has everything that only the high-end and flagship phones have. It will have the S-Voice, Multi-Windows mode and much more including the Popup Video feature. The Galaxy Grand will run on Android 4.1 Jellybean out of the box.
Samsung Galaxy Grand - Pricing and Availability
Samsung has yet again left us to wonder about the pricing and availability of the device. According to rumors, the Galaxy Grand will be available from January and the price of Samsung Galaxy Grand is expected to be around Rs25,000 in India.
